Exercise and the Microbiome

It’s true! Even without changing your diet, endurance exercise (like riding a bike) changes the microbes in your gut. Diversity improves, and so do certain functions— bacteria produce more short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which help reduce inflammation and improve metabolism (among many other things).
